The Challenge

A new Best Western hotel in Mississauga was getting ready to open. The electrician had already pulled the network cables to every floor, but nothing was finished. More than 150 cables per floor were hanging loose in the racks, covered in construction dust, with no terminations and no labels.

Without labels there was no way to tell which cable went to which guest room, phone, access point or camera, and the hotel needed a reliable network in place before opening day.

Our Approach

We built the network from the core out. An OM3 armoured multimode fibre backbone now links the main distribution frame (MDF) to 4 IDF rooms, so every floor has a fast, dedicated uplink back to the core.

What we did

  • Installed and connected the OM3 armoured fibre between the MDF and every IDF
  • Set up the MDF and IDF racks with switches, patch panels and networking equipment
  • Cleaned, sorted and dressed every cable in the racks
  • Terminated 150+ cables per floor on patch panels
  • Installed and terminated faceplates in every room
  • Labelled every port at both ends: data, phone, Wi-Fi access points and cameras
  • Set up ISP routing so the hotel firewall receives its public IP

The Result

In three weeks, four floors went from loose, dusty, unlabelled cable to clean racks with 600+ tested and labelled connections. Every port on the patch panel matches a labelled faceplate in a room, so the hotel’s IT team can trace any connection in seconds, and adding or moving a device is a quick patch instead of a guessing game.
