61 Cameras & Face-Recognition Door Access for a Mississauga Warehouse

The Challenge

This computer refurbishing and export company runs a busy warehouse in Mississauga, with laptops, desktops and parts coming in, being processed and going out every day. We had already handled server setup work for them, so when they wanted to tighten security, they asked us to take care of it.

They needed clear camera coverage across the warehouse, enough recording time to look back on any incident, and a better way to control who goes through key doors than handing out keys or fobs.

Our Approach

We surveyed the site, planned camera positions around how stock and people move through the building, and pulled all new cable for the system.

Camera system

• 61 UNV (Uniview) cameras covering the warehouse inside and out
• 96 TB of storage for 30 days of continuous recording
• Live view and playback on phone and computer
• New cabling throughout, neatly routed and labelled

Face-recognition door access

• UniFi Access face-recognition readers on 2 doors
• Staff walk up and the door unlocks automatically when their face is recognised
• No keys or fobs to lose, copy or share
• Every entry is logged with name and time, and access can be added or removed from the app

The Result

Completed in about 4 weeks, the warehouse now has full camera coverage with a month of footage on hand, and its key doors open only for the right people. Managers can check cameras and door activity from their phone, and the system is built to grow as the business does.
